About this site

oceansciencecouncil.org publishes sourced records of decisions that affect marine protection, alongside general reference guides.

What is published here

The main body of work is an archive of marine policy episodes: what the scientific advice said, what was decided, and what changed as a result. Each entry is written from published reporting and links back to it, so a reader can check every claim at the source rather than taking this site's word for it.

The site also carries a set of general reference guides written in Greek, covering consumer and professional topics. These are kept separate from the marine archive and are listed under the guides section.

How sourcing works

  • Every factual claim is attributed to a named publication.
  • Full source URLs are listed at the end of each archive entry, not hidden behind link text.
  • Where reported figures differ between publications, the figure and the publication that reported it are both named.
  • Nothing is presented as original research.

What this site is not

This website is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, does not represent, and does not speak for the former Ocean Science Council of Australia or any scientific body. Where that organisation is discussed, it is discussed as a subject of public reporting.
