Concern over unprecedented risks to the health of our oceans.

Concern over unprecedented risks to the health and future of Australia’s ‘big blue backyard’ has led to the formation of Australia’s first independent council of marine science.

The Ocean Science Council of Australia (OSCA) is an independent group of 10 leading experts from across the ecological, economic and social sciences concerned with the oceans.

OSCA will draw on its pool of expert knowledge to communicate the benefits to all, of evidence-based management of the marine environment. We believe we have a responsibility to make information and knowledge available to inform management and policy in this complex but fundamentally important period of focus on Australia’s oceans.
