Dr. Kiki Dethmers is a research fellow with the North Australia Marine Research Alliance (NAMRA), a partnership between AIMS, ANU, CDU and the NT Government, based in Darwin. She received her degrees from Wageningen Agricultural University (MSc) and Radboud University Nijmegen (PhD) in the Netherlands. Kiki’s research work focuses on marine biodiversity conservation, and on sea turtles in particular. She has worked extensively in the SE Asian and Australasian region, including Indonesia and Timor Leste. Kiki moved to the Northern Territory in 2008 where she worked on conservation planning projects related to coastal regions, including Indigenous Protected Areas. Currently, Kiki coordinates a collaborative research project on the impact of derelict fishing gear on sea turtle populations across the Arafura and Timor Seas (ATS) region.
